Spring Has Awoken My Muse - At Least A Little
The scans are horrid on these, as is the usual for dimentional objects. Some day I'll have a nice digital camera that takes fabulous pictures! :)
The first little pieces were done for a "123" Challenge. You had to make a 1", a 2" and a 3" Itty Bitty in the same theme and send them to one person. My person was Sandee (of Sandee's Sanity on the right in the list of blogs to visit). The theme I chose was SPRING and these are called "Spring Awakening". They represent the things of spring to me: planting a garden, baby birds and new flowers. I used bits of vintage lace on each three, which seems to be a favorite thing of mine to do lately! :)
This second bit of art was made for BARB of 123 Lavender Lollypop Lane on the top of the blog list. It was actually THE SECOND little hanging I made for her because the first strangely disappeared from the envelope en route. Strange how that happens to our art, isn't it?! Anyways, this was done on a thick canvas and hangs from the ribbon on top. The bottom has a triangular bit of flower lace hanging off of it and although it is difficult to see here, it's really pretty! The words say "borne upon the wing" and came from a vintage book I am shamelessly tearing apart for words. ;)

The Moon And Little Frieda
A cool small evening shrunk to a dog bark and the clank of a bucket --
And you listening.
A spider's web, tense for the dew's touch.
A pail lifted, still and brimming -- mirror
To tempt a first star to a tremor.
Cows are going home in the lane there, looping the hedges with their warm
wreaths of breath --
A dark river of blood, many boulders,
Balancing unspilled milk.
"Moon!" you cry suddenly, "Moon! Moon!"
The moon has stepped back like an artist gazing amazed at a work
That points at him amazed.

Sometimes there are words so beautiful that they make me want to weep. Beautiful words painting a beautiful picture in my head. How I wish I could translate them into paint and torn paper correctly. But somehow they never come out with the depth that I feel them in my heart. But I will keep trying because ultimately....the process brings me so much joy. Even when at times it feels like a punishment to have all this energy and feeling inside of my body fighting to come out. And speaking of my body, here is an affirmation poem I wrote to myself:
